Vasco da Gama Tower

Vasco da Gama Tower
Vasco da Gama Tower (Parque das Nações, Lisbon) – named after the first explorer to have found a direct ocean route to India, this tower was originally built for the World Expo of’98 in Lisbon. At a height of 145 meters (476 feet), this is the tallest structure in Lisbon. At the top is a viewing platform (inspired by a topsail basket, reached by panoramic glass elevators) that provides a grand view over Lisbon.
The tower was later expanded with the high-rise Myriad Hotel in late 2012. With a steel frame that takes up the shape of a huge sail, it is in some ways reminiscent to the more grandiose Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.
