Tavares
Tavares (Rua da Misericórdia 37, Encarnação, Lisbon) – another upscale restaurant in Lisbon, this is perhaps the city’s oldest, since it opened in 1784. The menu here is inspired by the traditional meals of the region, brought to a new life by a crew of young and trendy chefs. From sole cooked in a champagne sauce, to the simple bacalhau (cod fish) or the zesty sopa alentejana, a dish that artfully combines garlic, bread and eggs, there is something for everyone to sample and savor. A local favorite on the menu are the game birds, delicately roasted in a rich wine sauce. Expect the average price of a three-course meal here to run at least €50.
