Museu de Marinha
Museu de Marinha (Praça do Império, Lisbon) – this museum, managed by the Portuguese Navy, chronicles that country’s extensive history as a maritime power. Located in the tourist-friendly Belém district, it is housed within the Jerónimos Monastery, and shows a range of historic objects – from archaeological items to paintings and scale models of Portuguese ships going back to the 15th century.
Admission: Adult (€5), Seniors & Students, and Children (6 to 18 years) (€2.50). Children under 6: free. Free admission for all on Sundays & holidays from 10 am – 2 pm. Hours: open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm (Oct. 1 – April 30) and 10 am to 6 pm (May 1 – Sept. 30). Closed on Mondays & holidays.
