Bica do Sapato (Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, Armazem B, Doca do Jardim do Tabaco, Lisbon) – “Bica do Sapato” – which means “high heel” in Portuguese, is a unique restaurant that was fashionable when it first opened some years back, and remains very trendy today. It is a must go for those that loves great food, cool ambience and interesting people-watching. Actors John Malkovich and Catherine Deneuve own this restaurant, with Portuguese partners Fernando Fernandes and José Miranda (responsible for another very successful restaurant Pap’Açorda in Bairro Alto). This may add to the “high trendy factor,”, or perhaps it is because many Lisbon celebrities, politicians and trendsetters can be found dining here. Along with the restaurant’s main dining room, there is a “Cafeteria” dining area that overlooks the river, and a sushi bar at its upper level.
